Game Update
Hi traders,
We’re implementing some changes to the game starting with the next match, Melbourne vs Hawthorn.
To make it more fair for those who cannot trade in between games on the weekend, once a match has begun it will be locked out until the entire round has been completed. This means you will not be able to sell the shares you own in matches until the very last match of the round has finished. Previously, matches were unlocked after each match was completed.
This will also make the game more strategic, as you’ll now need to take into account each match of the round when buying your stocks during the week.
Cash bonuses will still be paid out after each match, which will give you a little extra to spend on any last minute stocks on the weekend.
We would love to hear your feedback on this, so post a comment here or send the team an email: theteam@footysx.com.au

Well, for me the changes are a blessing and I welcome them. For many others, I’m guessing they will not be happy. With any luck you’ll retain more players that dont have the time to go on all the time. Possibly the ‘young dad’ market that work full time and dont get online much on the weekend but get into their friday night footy.
I for one wasn’t going to play this year because of the lockouts for games only but now that it is weekend lockout, I have a chance to be competitive against people with more time on their hands. I say kudos to you. Had to be done at some point.
Good call by the team,
keep it up boys
Sorry guys - I like it how it was… lockouts only for each match - maybe you could have a maximum sales per round to stop people buying shares for each match, but keeping the weekend more interesting?
Appreciate the feedback guys.
Whilst we try to please everybody, we know this isn’t possible. The changes should make the game more fair for those who aren’t able to jump on FootySX in between games.
If you still want to trade between matches, don’t forget that a lockout for a match begins only when that particular match starts, so you can use the Cash bonuses earned during a match to buy stocks in the next match.
I for 1 love the update. Finally i can make my trades and not stress about coming on after each match and re-investing straight away.
It will make me think about the trades and will most likely make me use the cash bonus method as i will be getting that profit and re-investing that cash in unlocked matches!
LOVE IT!!!!
I think the updates make the game alot fairer, but is a bit extreme for my liking.
Having lockouts from the first game on Saturday, to the last game on Saturday and ditto for Sunday would be ample and allow people to play with their money alot more than is currently allowed. Trading every Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night (for following Friday and weekday trading) isn’t much of an ask and surely wouldn’t be a hinderance.
Another option would be what Blaargh said - max transactions per weekend. Allowing, on average 5 players per game allows 40 trades (80 if you include selling) would keep the people who like playing with their money happy, as well as the full-time workers with not much time on their hands. It would also leave room for lots of different strategic plans, like buying players and not selling for a sustained period of time, giving you more players as you go along.
Overall I like the updates and just wanted to put my 2c in

Love the new rules team… heaps fairer for those who can’t get to a computer (or have a hand held gizmo) to start selling as soon as the games finish and also more challenging than just buying and selling 20 players in every game.
Might be a fair bit of coding, but any chance you could create an option to let you pick which style of game you want to play? e.g. user picks which style of comp to go in (free for all or restricted trading) and that way you could have the best of both worlds??? You’d have to select the option up front and wouldn’t be able to switch between the styles, but I guess you could create an option to let someone create two profiles to play in each league?
Either way, keep up the good work!!!
